With the return of the Koroks inThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, some players have not forgotten their experiences with them inBreath of the Wildand created some improvised torture devices in retaliation. Some players shared their created contraptions on social media for otherTears of the Kingdomplayers to see, while some commented on whether torturing the Koroks was justified or not.InBreath of the Wild, players were tasked with finding Koroks scattered through Hyrule and subsequently earning their seeds. In total, 900 Korok Seeds were obtainable inBreath of the Wild, yet only a fraction of that count was needed to completely expand Link’s arsenal to full capacity. WithKoroks returning inTears of the Kingdom,players have not forgotten what it was like to endure the grinding of finding as many as possible. For context, some new Korok puzzles inTears of the Kingdomallow Link to use Ultrahand to attach over-encumbered Koroks to various objects and take them to a friend at a nearby campsite. With the Koroks at their mercy, some players pieced together contraptions made from gathered materials and Zonai devices to attach some Koroks to, and players posted their devious deeds on social media. In a video by pory_leaks on Twitter, they used several sticks, stones, and campfires to create a rotisserie device to rotate and roast the hapless Koroks for as long as possible.
In anotherTears of the Kingdomvideo originally from TikTok user yautrek, and reposted by sarahpodz on Twitter,they used several Zonai devicesto cobble together a makeshift rocket ship and attached a Korok to the seat of it. With one whack of their weapon, the rockets ignited, and the Korok was sent flying fast in the distance. The videos were retweeted over 3,000 times apiece, with other users asking why the OPs would torture the Koroks, to begin with.
Nevertheless, with the discovery of ways to torment the Koroks inTears of the Kingdom, only time will tell what devices players will create next. Given the creativity that allows them to make great use ofLink’s new abilities, players are just scratching the surface ofTears of the Kingdom’s potential for making more memorable memes.
