However, following the update, many PC users were introduced to a frustrating new issue.
Many Steam players reported seeing an error message upon launchingWWE 2K24that claimed they needed to re-download the Deluxe Edition Pack and Nightmare Family Pack, which were two bonuses given to those who pre-ordered the game. The message said that if users don’t re-download the content, then the data will need to be overwritten to continue, and if users do re-download the content, then all save data will be lost. Many users who either didn’t read the full message or just didn’t heed its warning chose to re-download the DLC content, leading to all of their save data being deleted. Thankfully, developer Visual Concepts promptly released a hotfix forWWE 2K24to remove this issue, but many users were affected while the bug was still live on the morning of March 8.
WWE 2K24 Removes Frustrating Steam Issue
Players who lost their save data have not had it restored, and one user reported that 2K support explained that the data is permanently gone. However, some affected users reported that they have retained some, but not all, of their previous save data. On the bright side, at least this issue arose in the early days ofWWE 2K24’s lifespan and didn’t wipe out weeks or months of progress. As for the rest of the game’s lifespan,WWE 2K24has already revealed all of the Superstarscoming to the game.
The future additions include popular wrestlers like CM Punk and Jade Cargill, as well as outside figures like Post Malone and Pat McAfee. Many fans were relieved to see thatCM Punk would finally returnto the game series after being away from WWE for more than 10 years, before making an appearance during 2023’s WarGames.
As for the recent controversies surrounding Vince McMahon,WWE 2K24chose to censor the former chairmanby blurring his face in most cutscenes. This is part of a larger effort by WWE and its parent company to distance themselves from the now-controversial figure.
