World of Warcrafthas always had its fair share of money sinks to stave off the effects of gold inflation, but nothing has ever matched the Mighty Caravan Brutosaur in its cost and sheer usefulness – so, naturally, a lot of players want it back. Originallyintroduced inBattle for Azeroth, the towering Caravan Brutosaur came equipped with a vendor and an auctioneer, making it the single most useful mount in the entire game.
In many ways, the Mighty Caravan Brutosaur represented the ultimate status symbol in the game, but its existence alongside thecontroversialWorld of Warcraftsubscription tokenraised more than a few eyebrows at the time. To purchase it, players needed to have five million gold at their disposal – and no matter how bad the gold inflation got over the years, this was not a sum the vast majority of people possessed. When Blizzard Entertainment removed the ability to purchase the mount directly shortly beforeShadowlands, it became a part of the Black Market Auction House rotation, and its appearances there have been far too few.

Over the course of the past year and a half, the Brutosaur mount has only shown up a grand total of three times on the European Black Market Auction House – having zero appearances on the American servers. Though a lot about this statistic should be attributed to bad luck instead of any deliberate scheme on Blizzard’s part, it still proves a point thatWorld of Warcraftplayers want it back.
Even during the bleakest parts ofShadowlands, having a Mighty Caravan Brutosaur parked up next to the Great Vault in Oribos was enough to bring a smile to every player’s face in the general vicinity. Only Engineers could make use of the auction house inShadowlands, making the Brutosaur an invaluable tool of convenience, but this is no longer the case withValdrakken inDragonflight.
Since Valdrakken has a bank, an auction house, and all the other amenities that players would ever want out of a capital city, the luxury once provided by the Mighty Caravan Brutosaur has significantly diminished. If Blizzard Entertainment regrets introducing the mount to the game, it will likely not budge on its decision withDragonflight. Though its loss has taken away one of the bettergold sinksWorld of Warcrafthas ever had, nothing stops the developers from introducing something similar in the future – and perhaps the increasingly popular dragonriding may provide the perfect opportunity to do it.
World of Warcraftis available now for PC. Dragonflight launches on November 28.
