Capitalizing on the Q4 sales, CD Projekt Red has announced that anUltimate Editionof their controversial RPG,Cyberpunk 2077, will hit consoles and PCs on December 5. However, since this unexpected launch will mark the release of the game’s first physical new-gen edition, fans are eager to knowif there will be new contentworth the price. Here are all the answers they need.
Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition Content
Available on December 5, the Ultimate Edition ofCyberpunk 2077includesthe Phantom Liberty expansion, post-release updates, and additional downloadable content—all in one package.It also features Patch 2.0, which overhauls most issues and completes the game.
Players should view this release as the Game of the Year (GOTY) or Complete edition rather than expecting new or exclusive content. The Ultimate Edition primarily aims to deliver the final product, which some already own, in a consolidated package.
Phantom Liberty Expansion
Released on September 26,Phantom Liberty was the first premium expansion for Cyberpunk 2077, originally priced at $30. However,Ultimate Edition buyers won’t have to pay for Liberty City separately, as the DLC is now a built-in gameplay feature.
The only downside is that the physical copies of PC and PS5 will still require downloading the DLC from respective stores. (That is an additional download of 24 GB on PC and33 GB on PS5.)
All Updates and Patches
Every hotfix, update, and patch—including Patch 2.0, the most extensive overhaul for the entire game—is integrated into the Ultimate Edition. Essentially,this version will be the complete and polished gameplayers expected to play three years ago.
All Free DLCs
CD Project Red inserted18 free downloadable contentinCyberpunk 2077patches. These include (but are not limited to)Edgerunners content, new side quests, additional weapons, and character customizations. And those who purchase the Ultimate Edition will access all this extra content from the get-go (no download required).
