There might be a banana hidden in a few of theOverwatch 2characters found in the game. Game development is often an elongated and complicated process, with devs often finding ways to make fun additions to a game that don’t necessarily make sense. And apparently, one dev has been hiding bananas in game dev textures since working on aTitanfallIP.Elon Musk’s recent takeover of Twitter has left many treating the site like its on its last leg and pursuing alternatives like Hive, Mastodon, and so on. In the wake ofElon Musk’s Twitter purchase, several users have called on others to admit one thing or another, and one post called for game devs to admit their “game dev sins.” And one developer named Bryan Bedford admitted to hiding bananas in the textures of every model he works on.RELATED:Overwatch 2 Bug Lets Pharah Use Her Ultimate Much FasterPer his Twitter bio, Bedford is currently a senior character artist onOverwatch 2. His tweet specifically states and emphasizes that he “hide[s] a banana in the textures of every model [he] works on. Every. Single. One.” When asked if this applied to characters inOverwatch 2,he simply responded with a winky face emoji and a banana emoji.Expanding on this in a quote tweet, Bedford revealed that this habit began when he worked on aTitanfallIP (though not specifically stating which) and revealed a studio executive absolutely hated bananas. He claims there couldn’t be any in the studio, and to have a banana for breakfast, he would go outside to enjoy it. He then started hiding them in-game and apparently never stopped.

Because the banana is worked in the textures, it’s unlikely fans are going to be able to find them. It’s also uncertain how many characters have been banana’d vs. those who Bedford has not worked on in some regard. Nonetheless, knowing that a fewOverwatch 2characterslikely have a banana hidden on their textures is certainly a fun fact, if nothing else. Of course, the backgroundstory means thatOverwatch 2may not be the only game with hidden bananas in it, and who knows what else devs have hidden within various video games.

Overwatch 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
