Summary
AStarfieldplayer issued a console command to shrink their Vasco companion in the game, adjusting the character model to a smaller size. The player shared their results online, which was followed by a vast array of comments regarding the set scale usage, Vasco’s ability to appear in certain areas, and other mods that concernConstellation’s robotic companion inStarfield.
Vasco is arguably one of the more recognizable faces ofStarfield, having first appeared in the game’s official teaser trailer that premiered on July 12, 2025. The character brought a sense of wonderment that the players would soon embark on as they ventured across the Settled Systems.Vasco even has his own Funko Popthat’s set to debut in 2024. He’s a Model A robot built by the Lunar Robotics company, demonstrating a commanding presence with its height. His journey eventually led him to Constellation by way of Sir Malcolm Livingstone. Because of this, Vasco can be recruited as a companion inStarfield, ready to charge into battle with the Spacefarer. However, one player seems to have taken a breather from the space action in favor of an amusing console command that’s aimed at Vasco.

While traveling with Vasco, Reddit user Money-Mechanic administered aconsole command inStarfieldthat modifies the robot’s character scale. On PC, Money-Mechanic went to the game’s console commands, clicked on Vasco, and then typed in “setscale 0.4” into the system. This shrunk Vasco’s size to less than half his original structure, as pictured in the Reddit post where the miniaturized companion stands next to the player. The player additionally typed in “setav speedmult 300” for Vasco to help him run faster, accommodating his shorter legs for the change.
Money-Mechanic manipulating Vasco has caught the attention of some otherStarfieldplayers. Questions came up regarding the other companions in the game that can potentially be changed with the console command, such as Sarah Morgan if her character model were to shrink. Other NPCs can be affected by the console command, as well as any objects.
Money-Mechanic noted that they attempted to see what other sizes would be appropriate for Vasco before settling on 0.4. “you may jump over him or walk around him so he is never in the way,” they commented while providing the steps to input the correct console commands. Additionally, players can go for amech inStarfieldby setting the scale to 50 if they’re looking to switch things up in the game.
Starfieldgamers don’t seem to run short on finding ways to have fun in the game, whether it’s by encountering bugs or using mods to introduce new gameplay aspects. The console commands essentially provide the tools for players to edit their experiences in the game, allowing for results such as the one with Vasco to exist. Looking ahead,Bethesda is working on the next update forStarfieldthat could fix some of the issues that players have been noticing and possibly exploiting.
