Summary

Though the selection of crops inStardew Valleyis vast, an extremely patient player has managed to cultivate a farm that showcases the unique giant crops that can sprout from Cauliflower, Pumpkin, and Melon seeds. True to its genre, farming inStardew Valleyis an extremely rewarding experience that allows players to not only earn a huge amount of gold but also progress through the Community Center, the closest thing the game has to an overarching goal. From planting seeds to setting down saplings, farmers can decide which fruits and vegetables suit their vision the most.

While saplings can be planted during any season inStardew Valley, they will only produce during each tree’s corresponding season (Fall for Pomegranates, for example). On the other hand, seeds inStardew Valleyare much more time-sensitive by comparison, and they require constant care to grow. By design, each crop grown from seeds occupies a single 1x1 tile. However, special among this tall list ofStardew Valleycrops are Pumpkins, Cauliflowers, and Melons, as any eligible 3x3 tile has a 1% chance to become a giant crop instead.

It is precisely this unique property that has allowed No-House-7454 to exclusively fill their farmland with a field of giant crops, sharing the results with the officialStardew Valleycommunity on Reddit. Given the small chance of regular Melons, Cauliflowers, or Pumpkins turning into giant crops every day, this effort almost certainly took a while to finish. The usage ofStardew Valley’s Rain Totemswas no doubt mandatory, and careful planning across Spring, Summer, and Fall managed to bring this farm design to its final fruition.

A fact that manyStardew Valleyplayers may have missed is that crops do not wilt at the turn of the season if they are fully grown. The game will always allow farmers to gather the final harvest of a season, and the giant crop farm made by No-House-7454 would not have been possible otherwise. Though save game editing can potentially recreate thisStardew Valleyfarm, the strategically placed scarecrows imply that the design was completed the old-fashioned way.

WhileStardew Valleycan largely be considered a complete game, especially with the addition of theStardew ValleyExpanded mod, the indie title is still being actively worked on despite ConcernedApe’s focus on the Haunted Chocolatier. Update 1.6 is expected to launch with a new Festival, new items, expanded dialogue, and more secrets for players to unearth. Though no official release date has yet been given, fans hopefully won’t have to wait too long for the next update.

Stardew Valleyis available for PC, Mobile, Switch, PS4, and Xbox One.
