The list of heroes in theStar Warsuniverse seems to be dominated by Jedi Knights and Sith Lords, but there are plenty of non-Force users who also made a difference in the galaxy. Their triumphs might not be as awe-inspiring, but that doesn’t mean they’re any less important.

When the whole franchise began with the originalStar Warsmovies, the use of the Force had been discouraged by the Empire except for when it served the Emperor. This is why the early movies have some of the most well-known non-Force users in the immense lore ofStar Wars.

7Mon Mothma

Before the invasion of Naboo, the rise of Senator Palpatine, or the formation of the Rebel Alliance, Mon Mothma was the senator pushing back against the deterioration of the Republic. Her long career as a Senator representing the planet, Chandrila, mostly consisted of pushing back against the rise of Palpatine as Supreme Chancellor, and she continued to fight against the Emperor’s oppression in later years, but she didn’t do it alone.

After the fall of the Republic, it was Mon Mothma who founded the Rebel Alliance, and she was the one who recruited Princess Leia and organized the spy operation that obtained the Death Star plans. She did it all without using the power of the Force.

Han Solo Star Wars

6Han Solo

Probably the most well-known and beloved of all the non-Force users in theStar Warsuniverse, Han Solo might be an example of what the Force considers a useful buffoon even if he doesn’t use the powers himself. There are some interesting theories about Han’s dumb luck floating around the internet, but when the story first starts, he doesn’t even believe in the Force.

Part of Han’s character arc is that he doesn’t believe in anything but changes his mind when he finds a cause he believes in and meets a woman who is even more stubborn than he is. Despite how his destiny is intertwined with Force users, he never follows their path.

Bail and Breha Organa in Obi-Wan Kenobi Star Wars

5Bail Prestor Organa

Props to both Bail and his wife, Perrin Fertha, for adopting Leia and raising her as their own, as well as giving aid and shelterto anyone who stood against the Empire. But it was the extensive work of Senator Bail Organa that gave him the nickname “the Father of the Rebellion.”

As a politician, Bail was one of the few allies that Mon Mothma could rely on, regardless of the pushback. He used his political and personal connections to build a solid foundation for future governments that could exist without the Empire, a legacy that survived his untimely passing.

Wedge Antilles from Star Wars.

4Wedge Antilles

Wedge Antilles was once an obscure character that viewers and fans only knew asa personal friend to Luke Skywalkerand one of the most badass pilots in the galaxy. These days he’s appeared in a variety of differentStar Wars-related media and has a complex backstory that includes a tragic childhood and a thirst for revenge against the Imperial forces that killed his first girlfriend.

Wedge joined the Rebellion as a teenager and served for decades as a successful pilot, squadron leader, and fighting strategist. He even left his retirement twice to continue the fight against the forces of evil in the universe, no matter where they appeared.

owen and beru from kenobi star wars

3Uncle Owen Lars And Aunt Beru Whitesun

Their role in the originalStar Warsmovie was brief, shocking, and tragic, just enough to set Luke on a path of determined moral outrage. Not only were Owen and Beru lacking in any kind of power over the Force, but they were simple civilians who barely had any knowledge of unarmed combat, and what they accomplished might be more important than any other non-Force user throughout the canon.

Although early canon left their intentions and knowledge in doubt, modern stories have explained that Owen and Beru understood who Luke wasand the risks that were inherentin adopting him. The attachment Owen had to Luke was partly because of the child’s grandmother, Shmi Skywalker. Shmi became Owen’s stepmother after his father purchased and freed her and formed a bond with her new family. When she was kidnapped by Tuskann raiders, the attempt to rescue her failed, and Owen felt guilty. With Beru, she just wanted to give a kid with a rough start a better life and was dedicated to Luke’s survival.

Star Wars' Oscar Isaac was the frontman for a ska-punk band

2Poe Dameron

Like some of the other non-Force users in the Star Wars universe, Poe Dameron got his start on the wrong side of the law. His early career included running spice and other types of contraband throughout the galaxy until joining the New Republic Defense Fleet.

What follows is a long and distinguished career as one of the galaxy’s most skilled pilots, strategists, and military leaders. He appears in most of the contemporaryStar WarsIPs, including the animated ones, and has a long history of heroics on a galactic scale without the use of the Force.

Boba Fett with a blaster in The Mandalorian Star Wars

1Boba Fett

He was a single bounty hunter who could accomplish what a whole family of Mafia dons and an Imperial Army could not, and as a result was the driving force behind one of the best movies in the whole franchise. The result was a cult following that led to the figure of Boba Fett appearing in shows, spin-offs, and merchandise galore.

Boba Fett was a character that existed independently of either the Empire, the Rebel Alliance, or even the Hutt, and he did it without being a Force user. His popularity was so widespread thathis anti-climatic deathinReturn of the Jediwas retconned so he could return in later IPs.
