WithSplatoon 3being one of the Nintendo Switch’s latest major titles, receiving regular updates and maintaining a high player base, it deserves a fair amount of respect from the developer. Although the world ofSplatoonhas not been as expanded as theMariouniverse due to its more recent appearance, it has contributed some well-loved characters and gameplay to become one of Nintendo’s prominent names in a short time.
InSplatoon, each game’s idol groups - such asSplatoon 3newcomers Deep Cut- are easily the most popular and iconic characters in the series. The fact that the idols play a significant role in each game and actually have lines, compared to the silent player character, plays a role in that. In addition, the resident idols host a broadcast that explains the game’s updates, as well as details the Splatfests where they perform concerts. Among this group, the Squid Sisters Callie and Marie are the most iconic, which would make them the perfect hosts for a majorSplatooncelebration on March 13.

Mar13 Day would have similar potential, especially since customizing the player’s Inkling or Octoling is a big part of the series. Releasing real-world counterparts of some of the games' most popular cosmetics would be a good move, particularly considering some of its outfits are unique and stylish to the world’s marine life inhabitants. It could also be a good time for a one-day sale onSplatoon 3in order to grow the player base further.
The best argument in favor of Mar13 Day is thatSplatoonis already no stranger to hosting regular events.Splatoon 3’s new Tricolor Turf War Splatfestsare an evolution of an event that has been held since the Wii U original, complete with performances from each game’s respective idol group. Mar13 Day could be the venue for a major Splatfest, one with bigger rewards to celebrate the occasion. The in-game announcement could even be hosted by Callie and Marie, which seems all the more likely now that players can revisit Inkopolis throughSplatoon 3’s first DLC expansion. Bringing the Squid Sisters back to host a big event would certainly be a nice bit of nostalgia for longtimeSplatoonplayers.
Splatoonmay not have as long a legacy as theMarioseries, but it has grown big enough - asSplatoon 3’s Season 3 updatesshow - to run a celebration of its own. Whether the event would be heralding real-worldSplatoonmerchandise or just in-game spectacle, Mar13 Day could become an enjoyable tradition for fans. Between its presentation and theatrical Splatfests,Splatoonalready feels like the perfect inspiration for big parties, so Mar13 Day could do forSplatoonwhat Mar10 Day does forSuper Mario.
