Now thatWandaVisionhas laid the preliminary groundwork for the MCU multiverse, the internet has been buzzing with theories about which superheroes could be making cameo appearances in Phase 4 projects. One film that has been the subject of ongoing crossover rumors isSpider-Man: No Way Home, which Tom Holland, a.k.a. Spider-Man himself, said wasthe most ambitious standalone superhero moviehe’s ever been a part of. Now that there’s a chance for Marvel characters previously owned by Twentieth Century Fox and Sony franchises to be introduced into the MCU, fans can’t help but keep speculating.
Recently, leaks from theNo Way Homeproduction circulated online that may offer a better idea of who fans can expect to show up in the upcoming film. The first leak came from aNo Way Homenews Twitter account, which shared a report that indicated production is currently filming on a replica set ofDoctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum. Should this claim ring true, it would only serve as further confirmation that audiences will be seeing Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange in the Spidey sequel.

When asked if he was done filming his scenes forNo Way Home, Cumberbatch replied with a cryptic “Yes and no.” This could suggest that production has additional scenes to shoot with Cumberbatch on top of the ones he has already completed. Currently, it is unclear whether or not Doctor Strange will appear in the alleged Sanctum Sanctorum scenes.
Another leak hinted at the possibility of another Spider-Man actor from the Sony franchise making a cameo in the film. William Spencer, the man who played Andrew Garfield’s stunt double inThe Amazing Spider-Manfilms, recently uploaded a post on Instagram where he mentioned he has been working with Greg Townley, who is Tom Holland’s stunt double. The post, which Spencer has since taken down from his account,could hint at Garfield reprising his role as Peter ParkerinNo Way Home.
While the Garfield rumorhad previously been shut down by Holland, many people aren’t so convinced by Holland’s word as Marvel has a history of keeping important details from him. Holland is notorious for accidentally revealing confidential information, so there’s a chance the Garfield rumor is true and Holland just doesn’t know about it.
Of course, these leaks should be taken with a grain of salt, as no official statements have been given by Marvel as of yet. For now, we can only hope that theNo Way Homestoryline somehow opens up the way forgroundbreaking crossoverswithin the MCU.
