A leak has suggested that a crossover betweenWorld of WarcraftandFortniteis in development.World of Warcraftgrew out of Blizzard’s desire to make an MMO in a 3D world, and today the game is a staple of MMORPGs. But despite the success and a universe with its own lore,World of Warcraftisn’t exactly known for making crossovers. This year gamers sawWorld of Warcraftcollaborate withDiablo 4, making a “homemade crossover” between the two Blizzard IPs. But while collaborations inWoWdon’t always happen, the opposite is seen inFortnite. The list of brands that crossed over with Epic Games' battle royale is expansive and includes names like Marvel,Dragon Ball, andAssassin’s Creed. In Chapter 4: Season 3, players sawThe Witcherreturn toFortnitewith new skins, as well as crossovers with Nike andTransformers: Rise of the Beasts, the franchise’s new movie.RELATED:World of Warcraft Augmentation Evokers Are Broken in RaidsA new rumor hints atWorld of Warcraftgetting a crossover withFortnite, as references to Epic’s battle royale appeared inWoW’s 10.1.7 PTR patch. Wowhead found the references which consist of eight spells inspired byFortnite, such as the Glug Jug that restores full health when consumed by the player. The spell references the Slurp Juice, one ofFortnite’s most famous items that restores players' health when consumed. Another spell is The Storm, which deals nature damage to players who aren’t within its eye. This one is a clevernod toFortnite’s Storm Circle, one of the core gameplay mechanics of the Epic Games title.

At the moment of this writing, it is not known how the collaboration betweenWorld of WarcraftandFortnitecould happen, like in the form of a boss encounter. As it is a rumor, players should take the information with a pinch of salt, as it may change or not even happen. It’s worth noting thatFortniterumors related to medieval universes are particularly hot. A few weeks ago a leak revealed that acrossover betweenFortniteandThe Elder Scrollsis in the works.

As players prepare to celebrateWorld of Warcraft’s 19th anniversary,Fortnitefollows with Chapter 4: Season 3. There’s no further information on theWoWxFortnitecrossover, but the rumor is already interesting for bringing together two games from totally different genres, posing as a new and potentially fun experience. After years of existence, this could be a good time forWorld of Warcraftto invest in collaborations with other games that can attract new players.
