TheResident Evilfranchise is not showing any signs of slowing down any time soon, with the newest iterations rekindling its horror roots after a couple of lackluster entries. The modding community alone is helping to keep the series alive with fresh content that either changes the look of the games, or make them more challenging. Recently, one modder uploadedan add-on which makes the remake ofResident Evil 3extremely difficult. Now, another user has modded the game to add an aspect that has surprisingly not been thought of until now.
Posting the file to Nexus Mods a few days ago, user DigitalZky has managed to port Claire Redfield over intoResident Evil 3. The mod swaps out Jill Valentine for theRE2character, with the modder saying that this is their most ambitious project to date, and their first time porting a full character over to another game. The modder has also done some otherResident Evilmods, such as making some new outfits for Jill.

DigitalZky also said that the mod isn’t quite done yet. Currently, the character model for Claire, whosepopularity withResident Evilfans has inspired cosplayers, only has her default jacket from theRE2remake, though there are plans to add more costumes over time, such as her tank top and military outfit. There are some tweaks that do need to be implemented as well. One of which is potentially hilarious, in which Claire’s head disappears during one of the cutscenes. The modder has said that issues like this will be patched in future updates.
There are many otherResident Evil 3mods that add new characters to the game. Take the recentmod which added Lady Dimitrescu toResident Evil 3, which perhaps just shows how popular the exceptionally tall matriarch fromVillageactually is. Similar to this latest add-on, Lady D replaces Jill Valentine’s character model.
It’s a testament to the commitment and love the modding community has towards the horror behemoth. It also shows that many fans are keen to see how it’s possible to mix the games up a bit by putting characters from one entry into another. Sometimes modders go so far as to bring in characters from different franchises all together, such as themod which adds theLast of Us 2characters toRE3, even going as far as swapping out Nemesis for the Bloater. It will be interesting to see what other universes can be mix and matched by the community.
