Trainers looking to add an Electric or Poison-type to their team inPokemon SwordandPokemon Shieldhave plenty of Pokemon to choose from. There are many Electric-type Pokemon roaming the Galar region, and with the addition of theFairy-type since the sixth generation, Poison-type Pokemon have a new Type that they’re super effective against.
The Pokemon Toxel has a unique dual-typing: Electric/Poison-type. It evolves into Toxtricity upon leveling up, which has two different forms: Amped and Low Key form. In addition, Toxtricity is capable of Gigantamaxing, which was a new gameplay mechanic introduced inSword&Shield. Trainers who raise their Toxel into Toxtricity will have a good counter against Fairy-type Pokemon.

Where to Get and Evolve Toxel
Toxel can be found in the wild in the following locations:
In the Wild Area, Toxel’s appearance ratewill be determined by the weather, making it a bit trickier to catch. On Route 7, Toxel has a 25% chance of appearing.
However, if players visit thePokemon NurseryonRoute 5to the right of Turffield, they can get a Toxel from an NPC at the Pokemon Nursery. Save before getting Toxel because its gender and Nature are randomized. Because Toxtricity’s form is based on Toxel’s Nature, saving before grabbing the Pokemon Nursery’s Toxel can allow players to soft-reset if it has the wrong Nature.
Level up Toxel to level 30 and it will evolve into Toxtricity.Raising Toxel’s friendshipwill allow it to get an EXP boost in battle, so feed it curry at Pokemon Camps, or if players don’t want to use the Camping feature, have it hold a Lucky Egg instead.
Toxtricity’s Forms
There aren’t any stat differences between Amped and Low Key Toxtricity, but they do learn different moves and have one different Ability. Furthermore, once Toxel evolves, it won’t be able to switch between Amped or Low Key form,so make sure it has the right Naturebefore raising it.
Both Toxtricity’s will have eitherPunk Rockor the hidden abilityTechnician, but an Amped Toxtricity may get thePlusAbility while the Low Key may haveMinus.
Toxtricity’s best Ability is its Signature Ability,Punk Rock,since thisraises the damage of sound-based moves and lessens damage taken by sound-based moves.For example, this means moves like Boomburst will be powered up by Toxtricity’s Punk Rock Ability, and it will take less damage if hit by an enemy’s Boomburst.
However,Techniciancan work for Toxtricity too because it will power up Toxtricity’s weaker moves. Unfortunately, despite raising the Special Attack by 50%,Plus and Minus can only workif an ally Pokemon in-battle has Plus or Minus. This means Toxtricity must have Plus (or Minus) while its ally Pokemon has Minus (or Plus).

Which Toxtricity is Better?
Both Toxtricity have a base stat total of 502 with a high Special Attack and Attack. Here is what its base stat spread looks like:

A good Nature for Toxtricity to have isModest (+Sp. Attk, -Attk), which will evolve Toxel into the Low Key form. However, aHasty (+Spd, -Def)works too, which Toxel will evolve into the Amped form instead.
Aside from their appearances, the major difference between Amped and Low Key forms are two of the moves they learn upon leveling up. At level 20,Amped Toxtricity learns VenoshockwhileLow Key learns Venom Drench. At level 52, Amped learns Shift Gear while Low Key learns Magnetic Flux.

Between the two, an Amped Toxtricity is preferred because of its better movepool. However, if a trainer prefers playing on the defensive and has the Pokemon with the right abilities, then they can make the most out of a Low Key Toxtricity.
Finally, Gigantamax Toxtricity can be found in Max Raid Battles, but beware of its G-Max Stun Shock G-move. This is an Electric-type move thatwill paralyze or poison all target Pokemon, thus making Toxtricity frustrating to capture. For those that have theIsle of Armor DLC, the easiest way to get Gigantamax Toxtricity is tofeed it Max Soup at Mustard’s Dojo. Gigantamax Toxtricity is a powerful Pokemon to use in battles - especially against Ballonlea’s Gym leader.
