The massive, diverse roster ofOverwatchheroes presents plenty of cosplay opportunities, with some of the most popular choices being heroes like D.Va, Mercy, and McCree. However, oneOverwatchcosplayer decided to bring a different character to life, focusing their skills on making a Junkrat costume.
Known for a love of thievery and explosions, Junkrat is one ofOverwatch’s more interesting damage heroes. Able to trap opponents, wreak havoc in hallways, and decimate entire teams with his RIP-tire, the character has always been an effective source of DPS in certain situations. However, a recent cosplay proves that Junkrat would be just as imposing in real life as he is in-game, as cosplayer Valentino “Imriel” Notari broughtMei’s crazed hero counterto life.

An experienced cosplayer that has dressed up asCal Kestis fromStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Orderas well as Insomniac’s version ofSpider-Man, it is hardly a surprise that Notari nailed his take on Junkrat. Boasting Junkrat’s singed legs and head, as well as the character’s over-the-top eyebrows and hairstyle, the cosplay is an excellent portrayal of Junkrat. Every detail is realized in the outfit, with contact lenses used to capture Junkrat’s fiery eyes and the hero’s iconic prosthetic leg being worn by Notari.
While Junkrat looks even better in this cosplay than he does inhis realisticOverwatchportrait, his weapons are also brought to life in a believable way. Junkrat’s RIP-Tire can be seen attached to the cosplayer’s back, while Notari holds Junkrat’s grenade launcher in his hand as well. Intricate, metalic-looking ammunition belts can be seen draped on the explosive-lover’s shoulders, completing Junkrat’s excellent transition from a video game to reality.
However, something setting this Junkrat costume apart fromother greatOverwatchcosplaysis its editing. Not only did Notari pose for the image in his Junkrat outfit, but Axel Nova Photography touched up the photo to make an explosion go off behind the character. Adding an extra layer of creativity to the cosplay that helps set it apart from other Junkrat showcases, the edited photo depicts a setting that is truly fitting of the hero. Looking like a poster for a Michael Bay movie, the cosplay’s overall quality is truly incredible, and it is hard to not want a live actionOverwatchshort when glancing at the image.
Both Valentino Notari and Axel Nova nailed the design, with the duo coming together to create something that should make every Junkrat fan smile. WithOverwatch 2quickly approaching, and Junkrat confirmed to get a new look alongside the rest of the cast, it seems likely that more cosplay opportunities will be available for the pair going forward.
Overwatchis available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
