Overwatch 2may finally be getting a beta release in the near future, according to the latest developments. Namely, it would seem that Blizzard has been pushing a number of developer builds for the long-awaitedOverwatchsequel via Battle.net, with references to all manner of interesting information.
Though this is far from being an official confirmation in any capacity, the fact remains that Blizzard has released a number of potentialOverwatch 2updates as of late. On top of that, it would seem that the game is now visible in Battle.net’s backend, which definitely means that the production ofOverwatch2 is moving along.

Specifically, the updates in question reference something called ‘OverwatchDemo 2’ which now seems to be sitting at build version 1.50.0.0.93186. At the same time,Overwatchitself got a development update, too. One that pushes the game to version 2.00.7.0.93195. Just a few months back, bothOverwatch 2andDiablo 4got pushed backwith no new release dates in mind, making these developer updates particularly interesting at this time.
The production updates in question are coming in just a few days following the initialrumors thatOverwatch 2 Betamay be comingin sooner than expected. Many members of theOverwatchcommunity came out claiming that a beta of some type would be made available soon. Following the aforementioned pushbacks, this could be a way for Activision Blizzard to revive someOverwatch 2hype and to keep the game in the public eye.
Interestingly, Activision Blizzard also agreed to use an early build ofOverwatch 2forseason 5 ofOverwatch League, though the competing teams don’t seem to have received the appropriate builds of the game just yet, according to reports. It’s possible thatOverwatchversion 2.00.7.0.93195 could be what players and eSports teams have been waiting for all along.
Finally, it’s worth reiterating that none of the above is a confirmation ofthe long-rumoredOverwatch 2release date. It’s a simple statement of fact that Activision Blizzard is yet to push out an announcement on the matter, and that the team could simply be preparing the groundwork for bigger updates and releases that are coming later on. As with most game leaks and backend updates, only time will tell.
Overwatch 2is currently undergoing active development with no official release window announcements.
