Overwatch 2is practically giving away a legendary-tier Gingerbread Bastion skin for the holidays, but players have a limited time to claim it.Overwatch 2recently kicked off its annual Winter Wonderland event, giving fans the chance to battle it out in a variety of seasonally appropriate game modes.
As usual,Overwatch 2’s Winter Wonderland eventfeatures special limited-time game modes for players to check out, like Mei’s Snowball Offensive and Yeti Hunter.Overwatch 2players also have the chance to snag some holiday-themed skins, but the downside is the vast majority must be bought this year. Previous years allowedOverwatch 2players to unlock seasonal skins through loot boxes, but now players have to spend real money to get them. One exception to this rule is the Ice Queen Brigitte skin, whichOverwatch 2players can unlock by completing Winter Wonderland challenges.

Ice Queen Brigitte is the only skin thatOverwatch 2players can get for free during the Winter Wonderland event, but they now have the opportunity to get another one for just one Overwatch Coin. From now until January 3,Overwatch 2players can purchase the legendary-tier Gingerbread Bastion skin from the shop for a single Overwatch Coin. WhileOverwatch Coinscan be purchased with real money, they can also be earned in-game.
TheOverwatch 2weekly challengesdo not give players many Overwatch Coins for completing them, meaning it will take a significant amount of time for players to earn enough to buy even one skin from the shop. However, the Gingerbread Bastion’s low price means players should be able to add it to their collection with little effort. In fact, it’s likely that players already have at least some Overwatch Coins saved up, even if they’re not actively trying to do the weekly challenges, as some will be finished by complete accident.
Overwatch 2Season 2 and the Winter Wonderland event have shown that Blizzard is starting to listen to fan feedback at least somewhat when it comes to the game’s monetization. Making it easier forOverwatch 2players tounlock new Tank hero Ramattraand allowing players to earn skins in-game instead of buying them are steps in the right direction, but it’s safe to say that the game still has a long way to go to find the perfect balance. Blizzard has teased some major balance changes that are on the way forOverwatch 2in the near future, but hopefully there are some more tweaks to the game’s monetization in store as well.
Overwatch 2is available now in early access for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
