The Last of Us Day is an event created by Naughty Dog back in 2013 that celebrates the passion and support ofThe Last of Uscommunity. September 26th is known as The Last of Us Day as it is the day that theCordyceps outbreak hit critical mass in the video game. As with every year, new activities and content forThe Last of Ushave been revealed.
Typically during The Last of Us Day, previously referred to as Outbreak Day, new content such as posters, themes for PlayStation 4, collectible statues, and even new apparel is put on sale for fans of the popular video game franchise. Additionally, there are also activities and various other announcements that are sometimes made such as a Photo Mode Contest and news on upcoming titles.

This year, Naughty Dog revealed new merchandise including a new statue of Joel holding a guitar fromThe Last of Us 2, aThe Last of Usinspired backpack, a replica guitar of Ellie’s,The Last of Usapparel, and much more. There are even some other fun announcements such as the team-up ofThe Last of UsandSackboy: A Big Adventure,where free costumes of Ellie and Abby, as well as emotes inspired by them, have dropped forSackboy: A Big Adventure. And as always, selectThe Last of Usgames and DLC have received discounts on the PlayStation Store.
The merchandise that has been announced for the franchise was expected and welcome, yet many fans were hoping for other announcements. Currently,The Last of Ushas a TV adaptationin the works for HBO as well as aThe Last of Us 2multiplayer game or game mode. There hasn’t been much news on Naughty Dog’s end about either causing speculation that there could be updates during The Last of Us Day.
Currently, that doesn’t seem to be the case, but as teased on the PlayStation website, more announcements and activities can potentially still be in store during The Last Us Day. As of now, however, fans have plenty to keep busy with the merchandise that was announced such as the beautiful Joel statue by Dark Horse. Guitar andThe Last of Usfanatics also have an amazing replica of Ellie’s guitar to get their hands on.
The Last of Us Day is not over, and although it was advised fans keep their eyes open on social media for more announcements and activities, news on both the HBO series and rumoredThe Last of Usmultiplayer gamecould still be a ways out. Even if that’s the case, fans still have many new excitingThe Last of Uscontent and activities to engage with.
