Of all the games in the series,Final Fantasy 7is considered by many to be one of the most influential. Featuring numerous memorable characters, a touching and powerful storyline, and being the first game in the franchise to use 3D graphics,Final Fantasy 7continues to influence many in the gaming community. Now, a local Maryland brewery has released beer themed afterFinal Fantasy 7.

Over the years, fans ofFinal Fantasy 7have found numerous ways to appreciate and celebrate the game. Although, what’s more impressive is how the game has managed to affect all different kinds of people. For instance, strongmanEddie Hall has aFinal Fantasy 7buster swordmounted on his wall, clearly indicating his love for the game. Though, Black Flag Brewery in Maryland has apparently gone a step further and created beer featuring art fromFinal Fantasy 7.

A Reddit user by the name of Ganymede0311 encountered Black Flag Brewery’s Fifth Anniversary DIPA at a supermarket. The art featured on the can is nearly identical to the cover ofFinal Fantasy 7, with the iconic shot ofCloud Strifelooking out at Midgar. Though, this isn’t the only Black Flag Brewery beer can to feature art fromFinal Fantasy 7.

In addition to the Fifth Anniversary DIPA, Black Flag also released an IPA called Costa Del Sol, named after a location inFinal Fantasy 7. It even hasCloud’s buster swordsticking out of the sand. Not to mention that last year, the brewery released a sour beer named Mako Reactor, after the unforgettable first mission location inFinal Fantasy 7. While these tributes to the game are impressive to see, there are some concerns.

These beers don’t appear to be officially licensed bySquare Enix, therefore the brewery could potentially face some legal issues over the designs of these beer cans. Although, these beers have existed since as early as last year and there haven’t been any reports from Square Enix yet, but the brewery should be careful either way.

Admittedly, there have been numerous alcoholic beverages themed after video games released over the years. For example, back in 2015, Bethesda created an officially licensedFallout 4themed beer. In any case, it’s amazing to see a brewery feature art from a beloved video game likeFinal Fantasy 7and it will certainly incentivize other fans of the game to want to buy them, considering the association with the game. It will be interesting to see if Black Flag Brewery releases any moreFinal Fantasy 7themed beers.
