Marvel’sfeaturette has been dropped recently as a means to officially introduce the character of Sylvie toLokifans. Sylvie made her appearance known in the latest episode. Her arrival appears within the blink of an eye. She seems to have stumbled into the series like Alice with Wonderland. Sylvie is a Loki variant herself and enters the narrative by announcing her plan to incite destruction and chaos amongst the Time Variance Authority.
Actress Sophia Di Martino has been cast in the role of Sylvie. Martino spoke a lot about her process, in which she mentionedTom Hiddleston was a massive helpin terms of her getting into character. Since Loki and Sylvie are both one and the same when it comes to sharing the identity as a variant, Martino looked to Hiddleston to show her the ropes. She mentioned in the featurette that watching Hiddleston act alongside her taught her how to incorporate the elements of mischief and mystery that the series thrives on. In a scene in the featurette, Sylvie turns and asks what makes a God of Mischief considered and classified as a Loki?

Loki answers abruptly with “independence, authority, and style.” In the little time that fans have known Sylvie, she seems to have already displayed all three of these qualities. However, having a character who is somewhat introduced inthe shadow of Lokican be both a blessing and a curse for an actor. In one way, Martino has the assistance and help of Hiddleston in order to incorporate the qualities of a variant. On the other hand, Martino made it clear that finding the traits of Sylvie that are unique and representative to her character alone was massively important to her.
Loki and Sylvie come face to facein what appears to be a fight scene in the featurette. The God of Mischief is immediately drawn to and curious about Sylvie. In order for fans to understand why he would find Sylvie so enthralling, Martino laid the groundwork to make her distinctive enough to be captivating. In the featurette, Loki straight up tells Sylvie he has a few questions for her. Sylvie bluntly protests that Loki is “in her way” and physically takes a jab at him in order to make him scurry.
The confidence, force, and mysticism of Sylvie draw in both the audience and the God of Mischief. The showrunners ofLokialso made sure that Sylvie’s backstorywould be told right, giving it the proper attention it needs for the foundation of her character to settle in. As her backstory unfolds, fans are going to want to know even more about Sylvie as they continue to learn about her past.
