While the main focus of the story in Capcom’s recently releasedResident Evil 4remake is centered around protecting first daughter Ashley Graham from all manner of monsters, one hilarious new clip shows a decidedly unchivalrous Leon Kennedy saving his own skin and leaving Ashley to fend for herself. A long-requested addition to the growing stable ofResident Evilremakes,Capcom’sResident Evil 4remake sold over three million copies in its first two days.

In a new video shared to r/residentevil, Redditor Rambofreak98 shows Leon leaving Ashley to meet an unexpectedly hilarious fate at the hands of a rampaging enemy. The short clip begins with Leon successfully saving Ashley from a villager attempting to carry her off, causing her to exclaim that she’s okay as Leon turns around and suddenly comes face to face with one of the newenemies inResident Evil 4. While Ashley is still dusting herself off from her attempted abduction a bull-headed Brute bursts into view and charges at the duo, causing Leon to duck out of the way and leave Ashley wide open to be hilariously clotheslined by the crazed villager.
Redditors found the unexpected attack entertaining, particularly as it comes only an instant after Ashley tells Leon “I’m OK.” One Redditor complimented Ashley on her resilience after she only ended up dazed by the brutal blow, remarking that she “could definitely be an agent.” Using the clip as a teaching moment, one comment noted that this sort of scenario is why they always have Ashley stay back when fighting the vicious enemies in theResident Evil 4remake. Other responses shared stories of their Ashleys meeting similarly hilarious and grim ends while Leon escaped unharmed.
After seeing Ashley’s fate following her unexpected run-in with a rampaging Brute, some viewers will likely start having her stay further back from the action in their own game. And for players who prefer their laughs with a bit less blunt force trauma, there’s always the option of installing theDumbo ears Ashley mod forResident Evil 4.
