Summary

AFallout: New Vegasplayer online has shared a hilarious clip that shows an NPC rudely snatching an item right out of their hands. For many,Fallout: New Vegasis considered to be the best title in the entire series, and it’s moments like this that show why that’s the case.

Despite being developed by Obsidian Entertainment, Bethesda-publishedFallout: New Vegasfeatures the same dynamic sandbox that definesevery other Bethesda title. This sandbox naturally creates many memorable moments in the open world, without feeling forced. This allows players to have a unique experience in the wasteland, making their time withFallout: New Vegastruly special. It’s a testament to how versatile this sandbox is, that players are still discovering new quirks almost 14 years after the game was first released.

Redditor swollyhill shared the hilarious clip, which shows a member ofFallout: New Vegas' NCRsnatching a drink from the player’s hands, before walking away nonchalantly as if nothing had happened. It’s unclear why the NPC goes for this drink in particular, especially considering there’s a ton on the shelf next to the player, but this only makes the situation even more humorous. One player in the thread mentioned that they’d had the exact same thing happen to them, leading them to ponder over whether this was a scripted event. However, this doesn’t seem to be the case.

Fallout: New Vegas Player Has Item Stolen Out of Their Hands

Gamers in the thread were shocked thatFalloutNPCswere actually able to pick up consumables like this, and one user had an interesting explanation. It’s apparently a feature remaining fromThe Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion(which shares an engine withFallout: New Vegas), where NPCs would be marked as “hungry” and seek out a consumable to eat or drink. It just so happens that in this particular clip, the NPC sought out the consumable at the perfect time, resulting in the hilarious moment.

BecauseFallout: New Vegaswas published by Bethesda rather than developed by it, the game has always stood out as a black sheep in the franchise. With Bethesda seemingly refusing to commit to a new mainline single-player game in the series any time soon, the calls for aFallout: New Vegassequel have only intensified, especially with the rise in popularity thanks to theFalloutTV show. WhileFallout: New Vegas 2seems like a pipe dream now, it will be interesting to see if Bethesda hands the franchise off to another RPG developer in the name of speed, as it could result in aNew Vegas-esque experience. However, this is purely speculation at the moment.
