Zack Snyder’s Justice Leaguemay be four hours long, yet somehow the director left out very valuable footage, especially now that fans are finding out exactly how well Green Lantern fits inside the film’s squarish aspect ratio.
It’s not as if DC’s non-canonJustice Leaguedidn’t feature any Green Lanterns, after all, a couple of the movie’s flashback and flash-forward scenes do briefly show two characters wielding power rings, but they’re the lesser-known Yalan Gur and Kilowog, with the latter suffering the worst of fates. However, as fans then found out, Snyder had plans to include John Stewart as hisJustice League’sGreen Lantern, even choosing actor Wayne T. Carr for the role, until Warner Bros. stepped in and got him cut out from the movie because it would interfere withHBO Max’s own futureGreen Lanternseries.

While it does require some imagination, placing Carr’s Green Lantern inside the dark world conceived by Snyder in his film is not that hard. The shade of green chosen for the shot would seemingly blend in quite well with the rest of hisJustice League’scolor palette. This is hardly the first time Carr has teased unseen images from the Snyder Cut, as a previous tweet from last fall also showed him suiting up in green and filming what appears to be a solo scene.
Instead of getting Green Lantern, Snyder had to settle for using the Martian Mindhunter, a crucial character in turning the tides of theJustice Leaguewar who finally reveals himself to Batman towards the end of the movie. Of course, those final minutes also include a special scene featuring Lex Luthor and Deathstroke, although the latter would have looked a lot different in Ben Affleck’s canceled solo film had the actor stayed on as Bruce Wayne for the script that ended up becomingThe Batman.
Suffice to say, the DCEU is a bit of a rough spot at the moment, with Affleck officially out andHenry Cavill’s continuation as Supermanlooking increasingly unlikely. It’s possible though that The Flash’s upcoming movie might turn things upside down in DC world, but for now Barry Allen and Aquaman are happy to show up for work inPeacemaker.
