Cosmo appears in the Marvel Comicsas a test animal for the Soviet Space Program. The spacecraft that is used to launch him into space drifts out of orbit, and he ends up on Knowhere. During this process, he is exposed to cosmic rays and develops powerful psychic abilities. Considering his powers, he is eventually hired as the Chief of Security at the Knowhere space station. This is where he comes across the Guardians of the Galaxy and helps them on some missions. His image on one of those Christmas ornaments in Gunn’s gift seemingly confirms his involvement inGuardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.

When the base is destroyed, Cosmo escapes. It is unsure how the two plots will connect, but fans are excited to see the dog’s return nonetheless.
