RPG players will always favor flashy moves over others, andGreedfallis no exception. Going after the biggest and baddest skills without building a foundation to support the combat should be avoided. Sometimes the slow and steady way is best. The skills players should be focusing on when they start should be different than their end game arsenal, letting the basics take over for a while.

It’s not onlythe undeveloped playstyleor lack of experience, players are going to be coming up against a whole different set of enemies in the early game. Focusing on the right skillset will save a lot of time and effort that could have been wasted had they prioritized less practical abilities.

10Cruel Steel

A skill especially suited to those stumbling through the beginning stages of the game, Cruel Steel will make running into unarmed enemies a less tedious experience. This skill ups the damage by 20% and will make quick work of any unprepared opponents.

The effect will also lower the chances that the player gets overwhelmed or caught off guard, taking the enemy down before they get a chanceto do any serious damage. While it might not be a boss killer, Cruel Steel is essential to getting through the hordes with any kind of time efficiency.

9Fury

Skills don’t get more straightforward than Furry. This skill gives players a big buff, supercharging their character and making everything faster with more power. Fury goes the extra mile, increasing the attack speed by 30% and chain hits by 50%.

The earlier players get this skill, the more use they can make ofthe lighter weapons in their arsenalearly on in the game. The attack boost could be exactly what’s needed in those bitter fights that see both parties close to death.

8Shock Wave

A double-edged sword, acting as both an offensive and defensive tool, Shock Wave sends a blast out 2 meters in every direction backing the enemy up while knocking them off balance. Getting the enemy out of range can let the player breathe and give them some time to recalibrate.

However, Shock Wave can also be used in other ways. The skill can serve as an offensive tool once a slick combo has already been landed, setting up for another chain before enemies can pull themselves together.

7Roll

This skill is fairly self-explanatory. Rolling is a critical move when the enemy is in tight and there’s not much space to move around. Rolling out of danger can be the difference between a flashy finish or a crushing defeat, adding some much-needed dexterity mid-battle.

This move activates after the player has dodged twice, leading to a complete combination miss from the enemy. Not only will that negate any damage, but it will also leave them wide open for a counterattack.

6Divine Aid

While it does no healing itself, Divine Aid boosts all magic healing by 50%. Exponentially increasing the efficacy of every healing spell, Divine Aid is a must-have for those who find themselves close to death all too often.

Beginners will be gratefulto have this skill in their arsenal in those tougher battles. Divine Aid gives players twice the amount of healing done with a single spell but at the cost of one.

5Steel Healing

While it might seem like overkill in the early stages, getting it out of the way will ensure players aren’t caught in a tough fight without any protection.

4Stasis

A costly spell that’s worth every penny, Stasis is one of the most important skills for getting out of a sticky situation. Freezing an enemy in place for 8 seconds is a lifesaver whena big group is attacking all at once.

Allowing the player to focus on other problems, it’s best practice to aim for the strongest enemy in the room. The added side perk of added fury generation makes Stasis all the more invaluable of a skill.

3Corrosive Emanation

An add-on to Stasis, Corrosive Emanation will melt the enemy’s armor off their body while they’re frozen. Assuming the biggest problem in the room is getting frozen, not only can they be set up for an attack but now they have no armor for defense.

Dealing 20 points of damage a second, every freeze is going to seriously compromise whoever’s targeted. This is a deadly combination that will have beginners melting through top competition in no time.

2Shadow Burst

Shadow Burst manifests as a burst of dark magic that stuns the enemy, hitting them with a heavy dose of shadow damage. A more offensive and long-range version of Shock Wave, players will have to wait a little longer before getting their hands on this beast.

It’s a great trap to set when enemies hold off on their attack only to blast them with this skill and leave all in range helpless.

1Shield Of The Enlightened

Not only does Shield of the Enlightened increase player’s armor, but it will also progressively restore it following its use. The slow-release lets the fight continue with a little damage buffer, easing the player back into action.

Lasting a lengthy 20 seconds, there’s plenty of time to take advantage of the armor heal. Players can use the opportunity to lay on the aggression and deal heavy damage without too many consequences.
