Few if any games are as highly anticipated as Sony Santa Monica’s sequel to the 2018 action-adventure gameGod of War.God of War: Ragnarokhas been looked forward to ever sinceGod of Warended on a cliffhanger, with the added benefit of being launched on both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. However, there’s now an additional party looking forward toGod of War: Ragnarok. The recent release ofGod of Waron PC has PC gamers hungry for the sequelm though that may not be happening anytime soon.Speaking with Game Informer,God of WardirectorCory Barloghad no good news to share with PC gamers. Asked whether PlayStation and Sony Santa Monica Studio had any plans to bringGod of War: Ragnarokfaster than the four years it took to port the first game, Barlog said he had “no idea.” It’s technically not a no, but it’s not what PC fans ofGod of Warlikely want to hear right now.RELATED:Rumor: Next PlayStation Event Coming in FebruaryAccording to Barlog, Sony is currently “taking it one game at a time,” assumedly referring toSony’s slow rollout of PC portsover time. He mentions how each game is evaluated on how well it does and whether people enjoyed it or not. Obviously,it can be assumedGod of War: Ragnarokis going to be received well. It’s odd that Barlog would mention that in the context of the possibility of a PC port, but that’s how he characterizes the situation, regardless.

The last that Barlog says on the matter is that it’s ultimately up to Sony whetherGod of War: Ragnarokis brought to PC and how long that will take. Looking at the previousPlayStation exclusivesthat Sony has brought to PC, Sony clearly takes its time porting its games over, and there’s little that can be done to rush them.

IfGod of War: Ragnarokis going to be brought to PC, Barlog would certainly know. At the same time, his focus is and will likely continue to be the new projectSanta Monicais developing. The PC port ofGod of War, for example, was handled by a third-party developer named Jetpack Interactive with Santa Monica oversight.

Ultimately, what Barlog is probably trying to say, is thatGod of War: Ragnarok’s release on PS4 and PS5 is the priority. Once it launches, there will be factors deciding whether a major exclusive has performed to the level Sony needs it to. If Sony believesGod of War: Ragnarok’s exclusivityis selling consoles still, then it doesn’t have much reason to bring it to PC. PC gamers will simply have to be patient like they have so far with PlayStation games.
