WithGhost of Tsushima’s launch, the last major PlayStation 4 exclusive will be available for fans to dig into. Thankfully, it seems the variousreviews forGhost of Tsushimamake it out to be a title well worth experiencing for many PS4 owners.
Interestingly, it seems thatGhost of Tsushimamight have one common function that sets it apart from other major open world titles of the generation. According to an interview with the game’s lead engine programmer, it sounds likeTsushimawill have incredibly fast loading times for an open world game, even on the base PS4 model.

With reviews already published for the game andTsushima’s action-packed launch traileradding to the game’s mounting hype, fans are eager to dig into the game and experience it for themselves. Thankfully, it sounds likeTsushimawon’t involve a lot of waiting around on in-game loading screens. According to an interview with Sucker Punch by way of Kotaku, the development team behindTsushimaput in a lot of effort to ensure the game loaded areas fast without compromises the game’s art style or graphical fidelity.
Sucker Punch’s lead engine programmer Adrian Bentley gave credit to the art team for the fast load times saying, “Our art teams did an amazing job pushing their assets to fit in our aggressive performance and memory budgets. They accomplished a huge amount especially considering the size of our team.” Bentley goes on to give an example of the game’s optimization, saying a 200m x 200m terrain tile set forTsushimaonly takes up a measly compressed 2 MB of disc space. The overall size ofTsushimafor those players who preloadedthe game or will be downloading it after launch is 35.37 GB.
Hopefully the fast loading speeds will makeTshushimajust that much more enjoyable to experience. While some fans initially took issue with the fact that the game won’t be historically accurate,Ghost of Tsushima’sblack-and-white filteroption remains incredibly faithful to this history of samurai cinema made famous by directors like Akira Kurosawa. Whether or not players choose to use the filter throughout the entire game, PS4 owners won’t miss out onGhost of Tsushima’s many breathtaking environments.
Ghost of Tsushimawill be available on July 17, exclusively for the PlayStation 4.
