One of the most credible leakers in the community, SaveYourPrimos, has revealed that Yaoyao will be a part of version 3.4. According to HoYoverse’s usual update schedule, update 3.4 should arrive in the first half of February. Yaoyao has been mentioned in numerous rumors and her model was leaked back in the original beta. In fact, out of the eight leaked character models, Yaoyao is the only one that hasn’t joined the playable roster yet. One of the main reasons why she was not part of thefirst couple of Sumeru updatescould be the fact that she belongs to the Liyue region.
Her release will most likely be a part of theLantern Rite festival which is an annualGenshin Impacteventthat celebrates the Chinese New Year. A number of replies in the comment section claim that they hope developer HoYoverse makes Yaoyao obtainable for free during the event since they always give out at least one four-star character during the Lantern Rite festival. This character has made multiple appearances inGenshin Impact’s official artworks which confirms that she will be a playable character in the future.
When it comes to her role in the official storyline, Yaoyao used to be Xiangling’s junior disciple, but she now works for thehalf-qilin Adeptus known as Ganyu, who serves as the general secretary of Liyue Qixing. Whenever the famous fleet known as The Crux is about the leave Liyue Harbor, Yaoyao often tries to sneak on the boat which often causes problems within the Ministry of Civil Affairs.
When it comes to her rarity, Yaoyao is expected to be a newfour-star character inGenshin Impact. According to the leaker, she will be the only new character addition in 3.4 which means that the update will include additional banner re-runs for three or four units. Players hope that at least one of the banners features the popular Pyro bow user Hu Tao who has not made an appearance since update 2.2.
Genshin Impactis now available on mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development with no confirmed release date.
