Genshin Impact’s official social media accounts have confirmed the arrival date and time of the upcoming Special Program for update 3.8. Before the arrival of every new update, developer HoYoverse usually hosts a live stream event that reveals most of the upcoming content including new characters, weapons, or events.
The ongoingGenshin Impactupdate 3.7 has introduced only one new character named Kirara who was featured in the first banner cycle. Version 3.8 is expected to be the last update before the next major region arrives, and recent rumors have revealed that it will be packed with new content.

Genshin Impact’s official Twitter account has revealed the exact release date and time of the upcoming Special Program live stream for update 3.8. According to the post, the event will start on June 23 at 08:00 AM (UTC-4). The live stream will probably give more details about the upcoming region that has been rumored over the last couple of weeks. This will be a limited region that will host an event similar to theannual Golden Apple Archipelago event. So far the GAA event was featured back in updates 1.6 and 2.8 which were the last updates before a new major region arrived which at the time were Inazuma and Sumeru. This summer-themed event is by many considered as filler content as it’s not related toGenshin Impact’s main storyline.
PreviousGenshin Impactleakshave revealed the new limited part of the map that will apparently be located in the Sumeru nation. According to the leaks, the map will have a couple of underground waypoints which means the region will have multiple layers of terrain that can be explored. This region will introduce a new domain that will feature an enemy named Idyia who shares a lot of similarities to Oceanid of Qingce that can be found in Liyue.
One of the reasons why this Summer-themed annual event is a fan-favorite is the fact that it’s always packed with a lot of smaller objectives that allow players to acquire tons of free Primogems. The fact that there will be no new characters inGenshin Impactupdate 3.8means that players can expect four different characters to receive re-runs.
So far, credible leakers have only confirmed one character that will get a re-run in the upcoming update,the Hydro catalyst user Sangonimiya Kokomi. Even though this support was one of the least popular characters at the time of her release, once HoYoverse introduced a couple of usable artifact sets and the new Dendro elemental reaction, she has become a must-have for most team compositions that need a Hydro applicator.
Genshin Impactis now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
