The Guardian Shield hasn’t been inFortnitefor that long, but it just got a massive upgrade, and it can now block incoming attacks from the Deku’s Smash mythical item.Deku’s Smash was recently unvaulted inFortniteafter an undisclosed issue led to its removal from the game. Its return has been controversial as it’s quite difficult to counter. Even though Deku’s Smash emits a loud noise before it attacks and the animation is quite long, it still deals over 100 HP in damage. So, if the player isn’t able to dodge it in time, they can be eliminated in a flash.
With this in mind, many players believe that Deku’s Smash is an overpowered weapon that can be too easily obtained; tofind the Deku’s Smash inFortnite, gamers only need to get to an All Might’s Supply Drop or buy it from a Super-functioning Vending Machine. It’s not as common as some other items in the game, but it’s pretty easy to find for a Mythic rarity item.

Before the v23.30 update, Deku’s Smash wasn’t possible to counter with skill. It all came down to fast the player could run away to avoid being in the opponent’s line of sight, but that’s no longer the case.Epic Games made some modifications toFortnitethis week, and now there’s an item that can actually prevent players from getting hit directly with Deku’s Smash: the Guardian Shield - a powerful shield that protects the players from all sorts of attacks.
Now, as long as playersacquire a Guardian Shieldduring a match, they won’t have to worry about running away from Deku’s Smash at all - they can simply block it. The Guardian Shield can be found all over the island, but it’s most likely to spawn inside Oathbound Chests. It can either be held in front of the user or it can be thrown to form a shield bubble. There’s an energy bar associated with the item, and it can be used until it’s fully depleted.
This change was a way to boost the Guardian’s Shield usefulness in theFortniteitem pool and decrease the discontent that some fans might still feel towards Deku’s Smash. With each update, Epic Games try to improve the game and make it as balanced as possible so everyone that plays it has a positive experience and continues to enjoy themselves.
