Bungie has been experimenting on Trials of Osiris inDestiny 2lately with varying degrees of success. The consensus across the board from players is that they appreciate the developer attempting to make the PvP mode more enjoyable. Recently, Bungie made Trials more accessible as well by introducingFreelance Mode. Players are now debating if this new way to play should stick around or not.

On Reddit,Destiny 2players are discussing whether or not Trials of Orisis' new Freelance Mode should be permanent, and one post on the topic has received a lot of responses. Freelance Mode allows players to queue solo, without the requirement to be part of a pre-made team. This has opened the doors for a lot more players to join and the PvP mode has seen a boost in popularity as a result. Players everywhere are welcoming the new addition with open arms but many still believe it could use some improvements.

The top-rated comment on the thread lays out Freelance Mode’s most glaring issue best. There is not enough being done to punish players for griefing, going AFK, or rage quitting. This puts the remaining players, who are continuing to do their best, at a huge disadvantage and ruins their fun. Despite it all, however, players believe Freelance Mode is still something they’d like to be a regular part of Trials.

Bungie will likely continue to experiment with Trials of Osiris until it feels it’s in a good place. The developer is using what free time it has during this final Season before the game’s next expansion releases. Players have until February to prepare for the next major batch of content and can even purchase the expansion now. They have a lot of choices in this regard, with the most expensive version beingThe Witch QueenDeluxe Edition 20th Anniversary Bundle.

This bundle packages together the expansion’s Deluxe Edition, which includes a ton of extras and a Season Pass, and the Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack, which comes with even more goodies. Buying the Deluxe Edition will net players access to the new upcoming dungeons, however,Season passes won’t include the Year 5 dungeons. This has caused a bit of controversy within the community who believe they should.

While waiting for the expansion, players can continue to engage in the game’s current Season. The game’s seasonal event, Festival of the Lost, is still underway but will be drawing to a close on November 2. After that, there will be a lack of fresh content in the game, making November is agood time to take a break fromDestiny 2. Alternatively, players can use the lull to participate in Trials now that it’s more accessible.

Destiny 2is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
