Base-building is a key aspect of the game, and knowing not only what to build but where to build it can prove to be highly beneficial in the long run.
While most bases will inevitably get raided, some are in a more isolated or better defensible position than others, whereas some locations will provide everything the player needs to set up shop. Here are the best base locations inDayZ.

12Kemenka Base
An uncrowded haven with space for fortifications
Players who are looking for a wonderful place to stay should consider Kamenka Base. Even though it’s a good place to find loot, most players ignore it in favor of the Pavlovo Military Base to the north. Players won’t run into many fellow survivors here, although the danger level is modest compared to larger settlements.
The greater use of resources is due to the increased necessity of constructing a rock-solid fortress in the event that players are in town. Kamenka also has a large expanse of land, so players can set up a base in an area rich in potential loot locations. Almost exactly between Elektrozavodsk and Chernogorsk lies Kozlov’s Peak. Kozlov’s Peak is the ideal choice for gamers looking for a camouflaged sniper nest that offers a better view of one of the most popular regions in the game. What makes Kozlov’s Peak great is that it is widely used as an indicator for traveling, and it is also a fantastic area to take shelter from zombies.
If players are interested in using the area, they should utilize it just for temporary storage or a temporary tent city at the most. Moreover, players will need to come along with any necessary supplies before ascending the mountain, as there is no loot at the apex.
9Chernarus Radio Tower
A crucial landmark on the post-apocalyptic planet
Another extremely isolated locale, the Radio Tower is situated south of Zvir and west of Kamenka and is also on the western edge of the map. It’s a beautiful area, home to a unique radio tower that provides a 360-degree view of the surrounding wilderness.
Aside from possessing the high ground toshoot down potential raiders, the site is already partially enclosed in a metal fence, with a small building inside to store items. This little compound will serve players well before they are geared enough to venture into more populated territory.
8The Caves
A secure haven with storage space for equipment and supplies
Northern Chernarus is rugged, with lots of mountains and sharp rocks along the coast, making caves an excellent hiding spot.DayZplayers are unlikely to encounter other players in these areas, because few are aware of their existence. The caves in the game’s northeast are ideal for gamers wishing to set up a base for storing supplies, gathering loot, and fending off infected foes.
The cave in Kamensk, on the other hand, is a popular tourist attraction due to its tranquil atmosphere. These caverns technically require no actual resources to build a base. With supplies like extra food and medical supplies, gamers will be settled nicely in the cave.
7Biathlon Tunnel
A great spot for looting, storing resources and vehicles
A rather unique spot to set up, the Biathlon Tunnel is one of the few underground areas in DayZ. It has two entrances, one on either side, with a road running through, and is found just south of the Biathlon Arena. With only two entrances to guard and solid concrete protecting the player on all other sides, the tunnel is highly defensible.
It’s also a great place to store a vehicle. Players can simply open a gate and drive north toward the arena or down south to Western Evac, one of the best places to loot in the game. Despite this,raiders frequently pass through the area and may decide to break inif they come across the base.
6Mogilevka Church
A backdrop for interactions that can be used for hiding, exploring, and looting
Easy to reach from the coast, Mogilevka might be best for recently spawned players or those who don’t want to travel too far to get back to base after dying. As a central town, it’s also reasonably close to key locations such as the Northwestern Airfield.
The church itself only has one entrance, making it easy to defend and providing some decent space to work inside. As for Mogilevka itself, the town is only a stone’s throw away from the church and enjoyskey resources such as a well for fresh water, plenty of animals for food, and hunting shops for rifles and clothing.
5Lopatino Scrapyard
A versatile spot full of car parts, building supplies, and loot
This industrial compound is located just west of Lopatino and is home to a generous supply of base building materials, including lumber, planks, nails, and sheet metal. These, quite conveniently, can be used to construct a decent-sized base, which makes the Lopatino Scrapyard one of the easiest places to start building without worrying too much about materials.
While typically in a peaceful part of the map, the Northwestern Airfield is just on the other side of Lopatino town, which can both be an advantage (easier looting trips) and a detriment (increased player traffic). It’s up to the player to determine whether this risk is worth it or not.
4Galkino Forest House
Relax and stay safe from infected enemies
With an excellent view of the nearby Krona Castle, the Galkino Forest House is a picturesque location for those looking to combine a woodland base with some PvP opportunities. The nearby castle is a hotspot for player activity, with clans often fighting over the area, meaning the Forest House is in an excellent position to launch raids from.
The area also enjoys a well for water, a shed for building supplies, and a nearby pond for a steady supply of fish, making it a decent hideaway if players want to use it as such.
A Reference point for navigation and a defensive position
Located on the outskirts of Severograd, there is no doubt that this base will come under attack at some point during its tenure. Despite this, this building is ideal for clans or large groups of players, with numerous rooms to store items in and plenty of opportunities to build.
With enough defensesand workforce, players can turn this former school into their own fortress, warding off even the most ambitious of raiders. The proximity of Severograd also provides an easy and rewarding looting zone to forage for basic supplies.
