Summary
Cult of the Lambis an interesting mash-up of a few genres, and one of them is a farming simulator. Building and organizing farmland might not be the first thing to come to mind when it comes to being the leader of a cult, but those followers need something to do when they’re not worshipping their divine leader, and the kitchen needs to stay fully stocked so nobody starves.
Followers also have to be fed, rested, and treated for sickness, and when they die, there has to be somewhere to put them, which is another part of land management strategies. All of the above are mandatory parts of building a successful compound of loyal followers, and the farm is one of the important cornerstones of a thriving community.

Updated July 20, 2025, by Kristy Ambrose:Now that the Cult of the Lamb has been recruiting followers for a while, andgone through a few updates, there are even more ways that the Lamb can improve their farming layout. A new DLC, the Pilgrim Pack, includes some new decorations to beautify their farm and related areas. There are several ways to build and organize this important part of daily life in Cult of the Lamb, so a few farm layout guidelines can make getting started a bit easier.
11One-Side Farming
Organize In Advance For Expansion Later
One way to organize a cult compound from the start is to choose one of four corners for each major activity. That includes the kitchen, temple, and resource refining stations, and let them grow into the center. This gets a bit messy if it’s done haphazardly, so ensure that farm-related buildings, like compost and seed bins, are placed nearby as the compound grows.
A larger cult population will need a larger farming area, so make sure this part of the compound has room to grow.Apply the same logicto the living quarters. These will also grow with time, and workers don’t have to make a long commute in the first place.

10Sin Buildings
Animal Husbandry Is A Type Of Agriculture
Most of the new buildings that are a part of the Sins of the Flesh update are connected to farming in some way. Lambs that want to connect their breeding program with agriculture can place their Hatcheryand Mating Tent with or nearthe other Farm buildings.
The Drinkhouse requires grapes and hops to make wine and beer, so putting it near the farm makes more sense, especially if you’ve designated part of the space as a vineyard. You’ll discover better drink recipes that include other ingredients that are also grown on the farm.

9Keep It Sanitary
Plants And Followers Need To Stay Healthy
As the Lamb progresses, so does their access to certain farm-related buildings and abilities. One of these is the ability to recycle poop for fertilizers. No matter where the farm goes, it should be near the bathrooms, so that the leavings of cult members can be easily recycled into fertilizer.
Fertilizer improves the yield of the plants and the speed at which they grow, so it’s something to consider for a hungry compound. Also, keep in mind that the bathrooms have to be cleaned, so assign a follower to do it as soon as possible. Another thing to consider with this layout is the placement of the infirmary, which needs Camellia flowers to function. There should be a plot of these on every farm.

8A Cult Of Recycling
Cleaning Up Means Saving Up
This doesn’t just refer to fertilizer but to the bodies of the dead. There are a few different ways to deal with dead bodies inCult of the Lamb, and one of them includes turning them into compost. Bodies can be buriedor butchered for meat, but neither of these options would involve the farm.
The compost bins for dead bodies aren’t available until later in the farming skill tree, so it’s easier to have them near the crops. Use them regularly and the compound doesn’t need to reserve any more space for graves, which are necessary at first but grow frustrating as the space gets more crowded. Composting bodies can help maximize available space.

7Maximum Sin
Related To Farm Resources
For those who are keen on generating as much sin as possible, it’s feasible to make the Drinkhouse a central part of your farming activities. Either that or place it near the kitchen, where cultists are often conveniently located. Think of it as on equal footing with the kitchen, and putting these two buildings close to each other is not only convenient but helps generate more Sin.
Followers can’t drink unless something is prepared, and the grapes and hops grown on the farm are the required ingredients for virtually every beverage. At least all the Lamb has to do is queue them up, and a Follower can tend the bar.

6An Outdoor Kitchen
Organizing Food Prep Is Essential For A Happy Cult
Another possible layout for foodie-minded players is to start with the kitchen and build the farm from there. The supply of food doesn’t make a difference if the kitchen is far from where the food is harvested. Everything the Lamb or their followers carry is accessible from the kitchen once it’s brought in, but it makes sense if the living spaces or shrines are also nearby.
Another advantage of the central kitchen with a surrounding farm is that it gives the followers some extra space to congregate other than working or worshipping. The more the cult grows, the harder it is to keep track of everyone, and this streamlined layout is one way to do it.

5The Garden Of Psychedelics
Microdosing For The Masses
After the Lamb visits Sozo’s Cave and the Spore Grotto, along with hacking and slashing their way through the rotting forests of Anura, they’ll have some mushrooms and spores. These can be returned and planted at the compound, and there are a variety of places to put them depending on whether psychedelic plants are for food or fun in this cult.
Lambs that decide to utilize the Brainwashing Ritual will need a dedicated plot of mushrooms that will yield a regular crop. Mixing the Mushrooms with the other vegetable crops is the most efficient way to grow and harvest them, especially if the cult has evolved to the point where several followers are available to get farm work done.

On the other hand, keeping the crop isolated, maybe even in a completely different part of the compound, would make more sense for Lambs that have taken a more prohibitionist view that limits the supply to their Followers.
4Central Farm Compound
Make Farming The Cult’s Main Activity
The main object of worship, a statue of the Lamb, is always in the center of the cult compound, so the farm can’t be in the exact center. However, the main farm building can be placed in the center of the growing area, which can include crops along with compost and storage bins.
This layoutmakes it easier for followersto drop off their harvest, take new seeds out to be planted, check the traps, or haul water. The irony of this layout is that it encourages growth, but might eventually inhibit it by taking up too much space.

3The Revenue Layout
A Cult Also Needs Money
There are a few ways to grind resources in the game. Two of the most important resources are gold, of course, and the spiritual revenue the Lamb gains from constant worship and Devotion. This is essential for gaining Divine Inspiration, which unlocks more buildings and decorations for the cult campground.
Shrines, tabernacles, and other devotional builds are conveniently small, so a few can easily fit into virtually any farm layout. Spread them throughout the area so workers and followers will fill those meters quickly.

2Fashion Sense
Vanity Is A Deadly Sin
Some of the patterns for the new Tailor Shop require the Sin resource, but that’s not as important as two other resources, cotton and silk. Silk is a resource that drops from Silk Cradle, the fourthand last Crusade, but cotton is something the Lamb can grow on the Farm.
Like the Drinkhouse, the Tailor isn’t directly connected to the Farm, but it uses the cotton that grows there. It’s best to put it in an area between the follower’s living spaces and wherever you grow the most cotton. Silk can’t be grown, only collected, but who knows what the developers might add in a later expansion.
