Activision has finally pulled the curtain back onCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s Zombies mode, revealing a slew of new details about what the new take on the fan favorite game mode will entail. This includes what fans can expect fromBlack Ops Cold WarZombies post-launch, with all of the DLC maps set to launch at no extra cost to the player.
AllBlack Ops Cold WarZombies DLC maps will be free, mimickingModern Warfare’s approach to post-launch content. LikeModern Warfare, fans can expect pretty much all of the major post-launch content forBlack Ops Cold Warto be released for free across the entire game, with cosmetic microtransactions and a Battle Pass for those who want to spend extra. TheBlack Ops Cold WarBattle Pass, by the way, will also unlock content for Zombies, though details on what it will entail specifically were not revealed.

As for what maps will be DLC, that remains to be seen. TheBlack Ops Cold WarZombies map at launch is a revamped version ofNacht der Untotencalled Die Maschine. It’s possible there will be more Zombies maps available inBlack Ops Cold Waron day one, but if so, they have yet to be revealed at the time of this writing.
One persistent rumor aboutBlack Ops Cold WarZombies is that it will have a new version of theTranZit map fromBlack Ops 2. If that’s still the case, it has yet to be revealed in an official capacity. However, that seems like it would make a solid post-launch addition for the Zombies mode.
In fact, it wouldn’t be surprising at all to see themost popularCall of DutyZombies mapsadded toBlack Ops Cold Warin the months after launch. After all, Infinity Ward has mostModern Warfareseasonal updates to add popularCall of Dutyversus multiplayer maps to that game, so it’s quite possible Treyarch will employ a similar strategy when it comes toBlack Ops Cold War. And with Die Maschine being a new take on Nacht, it seems as though the precedent has already been set.
There have been plenty of well-received Zombies maps released for pastCall of Dutygames, so there are quite a few options. Of course,Treyarchmay opt to create completely brand new Zombies maps as well, so fans will just have to take a wait and see approach.
