Cyberpunk 2077is the latest in an infamous list of games to promise the moon and deliver tarnished silver. While somemods like the addition of a pocket radioare good, the main game was plagued by bugs and glitches on launch, with gameplay complaints on top of that.
With new, paid DLC coming, there is a chance forCyberpunk 2077to become the game that was promised, but most are not holding their breath. This includes players, many of whom felt seriously burned by the promises the game failed to deliver on. It also includes retail outlets which aren’t seeing players purchase the game for the standard triple A price.

Best Buy is currently sellingCyberpunk 2077for $10 before tax and shipping. That’s an astoundingly low price for a game considered to be triple-A quality. While many games of the same caliber do drop in price, it’s usually not until a few years have passed. The reduced price is no doubt a measure of how little confidence Best Buy has in selling the game at a higher price, especially since this discount dropped the price from $40. This is already lower than the traditional price for a triple-A game, which usually begins at $60. This price, plus thechanges coming in Patch 1.3, might make the game a more appealing purchase for players.
Further influencing players' purchasing decisions will be the DLC on the horizon inCyberpunk 2077’s future. While not a ton is known about the most significant DLC, it is known that it will be premium, not free. As such, there’s a real possibility that some players may hedge their bets, purchasingCyberpunk 2077at a low price now and hoping future DLC and patches improve it. However, the DLC, on top of costing more money,may not properly address the elephants in the room. There’s still no guarantee it will make the game significantly better.
Of course, there isfree DLC forCyberpunk 2077coming with Patch 1.3, but it’s purely cosmetic. Without something more substantial, it’s not certain that players should invest in the game at all, even at such a low price.
Further complicating matters is the fact that senior gameplay designer forCyberpunk 2077Paweł Kapałajoined the development team of the new upcomingFabletitle. With the principal gameplay designer pursuing a new project, it’s unlikely anything fully new would be added in potential DLC. Only time will tell whether or notCyberpunk 2077is really worth $10, but for those who want to see what all the fuss is about, this is probably a good chance.
