Summary
Kaitlyn Siragusa, better known by her online moniker Amouranth, has been banned fromTwitchyet again. While the development marks her ninthTwitchban to date, this particular suspension could either be permanent or lead to her leaving the platform for good regardless, with Amouranth already suggesting as much.
Boasting over 6.3 million followers as of March 2024, Amouranth is currently in the top 30most popular Twitch streamers. Although she was once quoted as saying Twitch originally reached out to her to start a channel as part of its 2015 content diversification push, she has long had a rocky relationship with the nowadays-Amazon-owned platform. That’s primarily because her broadcasts commonly toe the line between what is and isn’t allowed on Twitch.
In yet another testament to that trend, the streamer has once again had her channel suspended on March 30. This isAmouranth’s second Twitch ban in 2024, as well as her ninth overall suspension. The generic notice currently attached to her channel cites “a violation of Twitch’s Community Guidelines or Terms of Service” as the reason for her latest ban. While the Amazon subsidiary isn’t in the habit of commenting on individual account sanctions, such a move may not be necessary to explain its decision to suspend Amouranth’s channel for the ninth time.
New Twitch Guidelines Prohibit Content ‘That Focuses on Intimate Body Parts’
Namely, the latest version of theTwitch Community Guidelinesspecifically prohibits all content “that focuses on intimate body parts for a prolonged period of time.” The majority of content that Amouranth streams nowadays can reasonably be classified as such. The new policy went into effect on March 29, with Amouranth being banned during her very next broadcast the day after. Social media reports from her viewers indicate that she was playing with one of her dogs in a bikini during the interrupted stream.
Amouranth has never been banned from Twitch for long, with her three harshest bans lasting just three days each, according to data compiled by third-party trackerStreamerBans. While the platform’s new content guidelines don’t guarantee that her ninth suspension will be made permanent, she herself has already alluded to leaving Twitch following their announcement.
Amouranth Calls New Twitch Guidelines an ‘End of an Era’
Specifically, Amouranth labeled the new content policy as an “end of an era” in a March 28 tweet, all the while informing her followers that she is starting an OnlyFans channel. While the wording of that statement implies she may intend to leave Twitch due to the changes, this wouldn’t be the first time that the streamer alluded to abandoning the platform without ultimately doing so. Her channel has also adapted to persist through a variety of Twitch content policy changes over the years, although these new guidelines certainly present one of its biggest obstacles yet.
