AnOverwatch 2player shared an original fan art turning support hero Mercy into a chubby cat. This creation is the latest in a long series of artwork dedicated to Blizzard’s FPS, with artists regularly reimagining the diverse cast ofOverwatch 2characters with new outfits, art styles, or abilities.
The series has always managed to inspire artists, with some depicting their favorite heroes or making fun of thelong queue times inOverwatch 2. Mercy is one of the most popular heroes in Blizzard’s FPS, being part of theOverwatchroster when the original game came out in 2016, regularly receiving new cosmetics through seasonal events and eventually totaling 76 skins in all. Some of those are exclusive to the Overwatch League or are no longer available, such as the time-limited 2018’s Pink Mercy, whose profits went to cancer research.

Reddit user MellicateArt shared an original artwork turningOverwatch 2support hero Mercyinto a cute chubby cat. The feline bore the iconic Mercy traits, such as her blue eyes, blonde hair strands, halo, and mechanical wings. The cat used their small paws to wield a staff similar to Mercy’s Caduceus, casting a blue beam just like the one Mercy uses to amplify the damage of her allies.
This feline, named Purrcy, ignited a desire for more cat skins forOverwatch 2heroes in the game’s official subreddit. Players suggested the newOverwatch 2cosmetic elementscould bear cat puns in their names, such as Pawnzo instead of Hanzo, Meowra for Moira, and Bleptiste for support hero Baptiste. Reddit user philliisalright asked for a cat skin for all characters so players could create custom lobbies full of battling cats. Inspired by the Mercy cat skin artwork, other Redditors shared pictures of cats wearingOverwatch 2costumes. MellicateArt previously drew otherOverwatch 2scenes, such as a DPS Moira refusing to heal Genji who is missing a single health point. However, the artist didn’t share any other cat skin forOverwatch 2heroes.
Since its release over a month ago,Overwatch 2kept on being a source of inspiration for artists. A player recently drew the latestOverwatch 2support hero Kirikoin the style of the animated seriesAdventure Time. The artwork showed Kiriko and her Kitsune spirit with the same long legs and dot eyes as the characters of the animated series, ready to go on an adventure together. Artists created fan art for allOverwatch 2heroes, the Mercy cat skin being the latest published on Reddit.
